Week 18 ~ Jan. 16 - Jan. 19, 2018


Whew!  Snow days and holidays are keeping us in and out of school recently!  We’ll see what this week brings…   :)

This week we will:
  • Review rules and expectations in our classroom
  • Learn all about fish
  • Review what we know about other animals (mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians)
  • Use letters and sounds to spell
  • Write our ideas down on paper
  • read all Power words at Flash Speed
  • count syllables in 1, 2 or 3 syllable words
  • write sentences to communicate our ideas
  • identify characters in stories that we read aloud
  • use pictures and information to make predictions about stories we read
  • identify stories that we read as fiction or nonfiction
  • Gather information to make a graph
  • Use tally marks
  • count to 100 by 1s, 5s, 10s

Homework for the week:     
  • read for 30 minutes each night and log in 2 steps (remember- you can read and log in books that you have at home, library books, etc.)
  • practice Power Words (new all will look and ‘old’ Power Words)

Important dates to remember:
  • Jan. 17 – Class picture day
  • Jan. 26 – Donuts with Dads (8:00am)
  • Jan. 29 and Jan. 30 - Teacher Work Days - No school for students
