Week 32 ~ April 30 - May 4, 2018

Don’t forget CAES’ Expo etiquette…if your family and child are planning to attend, drop off begins at 5:30 at the bus ramp.  Parents will enter through the front doors beginning at 5:45.  This 15 minute window will allow all bee experts (your kindergartener!) to get in place and ready before parents enter the building.  Bee experts should be dressed in black and yellow and PLEASE plan to stay until 6:30 so that you are able to visit all the Bee stations and hear from all bee experts.  At the conclusion of our expo, you will enter the cafeteria and loop around to pick your bee expert up from the gym.

This week we will:
  • Celebrate and show off our expertise of bee knowledge at our Kindergarten expo
  • Begin our study of arachnids (spiders!!!) – what they are like, their behaviors and adaptations
  • Ask questions and wonder out loud about stories that we read aloud
  • Use blends and digraphs when reading new words (bl, sp, th, dr, sl, cr, sh, st, etc.)
  • Identify vowel teams and practice reading words with long vowel sounds
  • continue learning new 2G Power Words
  • use 1G and 2G PWs in our daily writing and spell them correctly
  • continue exploring addition – a number line to add
  • begin learning about subtraction

Homework for the week:
  • Ask your child to tell you one way he/she showed GROWTH last week at school
