Week 19 - Jan. 21 - Jan. 24, 2020

Thanks also to all parents that are rocking the reading at home!  Check your child’s reading log.  Does he/she have at least 238 reading steps?  Many of the students are right on target or above the target for SCHOOL / HOME reading steps.  Way to go!  Keep reading at home- it can only result in more reading growth for your child :)!  If your child has less than 238, please continue reading for 30 minutes together and logging in 2 Home steps and consider reading an extra 15 minutes each day (1 extra Home step) until he/ she is back on track.

Week 17 ~ Jan. 6 - Jan. 10, 2020

Happy New Year!  And welcome winter!  As the weather gets colder, please remember to dress your child accordingly.  We will go outside to play every day unless the temperatures / wind chills are extreme.  Also, if you haven’t packed that set of extra clothes in your child’s backpack, now is a good time.  It is still REALLY muddy on our playgrounds.

Now, back to the business of kindergarten.  Here are a few reminders:
1.    Remind your child about GREAT citizenship at school.  EXPECTATION #1 (Rule #1) IS TO BE KIND..
2.    Check and sign the red folder every day.
3.    Send a note if there is a change in your child’s dismissal procedure.
4.    Send a note if your child is absent.
5.    Homework every night is to read for 30 minutes and log in 2 Steps.  It is okay to read books that you have at home, library books, or reread favorite books.
6.    Practice Power Words every night so that your child can read them at Flash Speed.
***#’s 5 and 6 are very hard to catch up once your child gets behind.

Thanks so much for helping your child meet with success at school!
