Thanks also to all parents that
are rocking the reading at home! Check
your child’s reading log. Does he/she
have at least 238 reading steps? Many of the students are right on target or
above the target for SCHOOL / HOME reading steps. Way to go!
Keep reading at home- it can only result in more reading growth for your
child :)! If your child has
less than 238, please continue reading for 30 minutes together and logging in 2
Home steps and consider reading an extra 15 minutes each day (1 extra Home
step) until he/ she is back on track.
This week we will:
- Begin learning about fish (don’t forget what you know about mammals. birds, and amphibians!)
- Practice reading Power Words at FLASH SPEED (and why on)
- Find Power Words in messages that we write or books we read together
- Learn about the short vowel /a/ as in alligator and name and read words that have
–at –am –an –ag –ad –ap (rat, ram, ran, rag, mad, map are some
examples)
- Use beginning sounds to decode and read new words
- blend sounds to read words
- use letters and sounds to write sentences
- identify numbers to 100
- identify the number that comes before or after a given number
- review equal parts of a shape and a set (half)
