Week 19 - Jan. 21 - Jan. 24, 2020

Thanks also to all parents that are rocking the reading at home!  Check your child’s reading log.  Does he/she have at least 238 reading steps?  Many of the students are right on target or above the target for SCHOOL / HOME reading steps.  Way to go!  Keep reading at home- it can only result in more reading growth for your child :)!  If your child has less than 238, please continue reading for 30 minutes together and logging in 2 Home steps and consider reading an extra 15 minutes each day (1 extra Home step) until he/ she is back on track.

This week we will:
  • Begin learning about fish (don’t forget what you know about mammals. birds, and amphibians!)
  • Practice reading Power Words at FLASH SPEED  (and  why  on)
  • Find Power Words in messages that we write or books we read together
  • Learn about the short vowel /a/ as in alligator and name and read words that have

  • Use beginning sounds to decode and read new words
  • blend sounds to read words
  • use letters and sounds to write sentences
  • identify numbers to 100
  • identify the number that comes before or after a given number
  • review equal parts of a shape and a set (half)
  • count to 100 by 1s and by 10s

Homework for the week:
